Gotta make this a quick one... I'm borrowing my landlady's son's computer while he's out at work. I feel furtive...
Yes, there is a reason why I am doing this. The computer I use to access the Internet, in my landlady's dining room, has come down with a very nasty dose of Computer Flu. Actually, that's probably not an apt analogy. Computer Myocardial Infarction - or Computer Heart Attack for the non healthcare-oriented amongst you - is probably a better description of what's happened to the poor little machine. That computer is very, very sick and in need of some major surgery to make things all better.
Simply: When I went to log in on Sunday evening for my usual late-night Internet jam session, the poor machine wouldn't boot up and none of my tender nursing (swearing, cursing, turning it on and off and back on again whilst muttering 'come ON!' through gritted teeth) would make things better. We called the doctor (landlady's son) and he immedinately diagnosed the problem: the computer has had an extensive MI and is now comatose (the motherboard has burnt out). So the poor computer's got to have a transplant! A donor part's going to be very expensive though, so the downstairs computer's poor plastic carcass currently languishes in the ITU, waiting for the money to be raised to purchase it an illegal organ on the black market.
Okay, that's enough of that. Don't mind me... just having fun with analogies in an attempt to make me feel better about my lack of internet access. Maybe I'll go to an Internet cafe sometime next week, just to stave off the pangs of withdrawal!
It's not all bad news, though. I've received three very nice reviews for the fic chapter I just updated and was worrying about, so yay for that! Many thanks to three lovely Weiss fangirls. You've made my evening considerably better. Just for you, I'll use this down time wisely by busting my little butt to get a couple of new chapters out. With any luck, I'll be able to update that fic on my first day of the rather bitty, college-based Maternity placement.
Yes, I know I sound gushy, but I really love it when people say they enjoy my writing.
