Yay, Bonfire Night~!
That's Guy Fawkes Night for everyone who live in America and don't have a clue what I may be going on about, which is probably damn near all of you. Which sucks, because it's the best pre-Christmas holiday and probably the major reason we're all still allowed to buy lots of fireworks over here and set them off in our yards. You can't have Bonfire Night without buying fireworks (or going to a display likewise, but setting them off in your back yard is the hardcore way to go) and freezing your ass off to watch them.
Yeah, this is my favorite of the late-Autumn holidays. Call me a killjoy but I don't really give a stuff about Halloween. This is the one I enjoy because it's the one my family liked better, and so it's the one they made a big deal about when I was a kid. We went to displays a couple of times and at least once we were at my grandparents' for it, and had a real bonfire and made a guy, but usually we stayed home. We'd buy a box of fireworks safe for use in our little back yard, and my mother would make food - usually hot dogs - and we'd have a pecan danish we all liked a lot, and then we'd stand in the yard and my father would let off the fireworks one at a time, then run to safety to watch it. It was awesome.
As for tonight, for the first time in what feels like a million years I am going to go to a display - and just to make it even more awesome the display is actually on Bonfire Night and not the weekend nearest to it. It's always better to actually get to do something on the holiday itself, not a few days before or afterward. Which is going to mean warm clothes and plenty of them, but thankfully I possess quite a lot of sweaters, though I have no idea if I'll still fit in my winter coat. Damn you, weight issues! Damn you, thick sweaters!
(At least I shouldn't be too tired for it after yesterday, as I slept for at least 14 hours just now.)
This settles it, I have got to sit down and work out where I left my gloves at the end of last winter. It was chilly enough for my fingers without them yesterday, and that was during the day...
