I don't like to think how long I've spent watching FMA over the last day or so apart from Far Too Long. To say that show has addicting properties is like saying blood is vaguely red. Having finally got some time to myself and a Codec Value Pack courtesy of my younger brother, who's only a pain sometimes, I decided I might as well at least start watching my missing FMA eps I started sometime the night before last with episode 13 (Roy and Ed fighting oh my god the LOVE, especially as Roy briefly became Angsty!Roy just over halfway through, which is always good). This morning I'd just gotten past the bit with the supposedly abandoned laboratory.

Oh. My. GOD. ♥

Seriously. Ohmygod.

So much good things. So much angst and drama and things going foom (like, um, Ed's arm, and half Al's side) and Ed, you're killing me with your angst and tragedy, why won't someone hot and male and shaped like Roy Mustang hug him?!? Roy is getting angsty sometimes now and he's just so good at it, and could Envy's voice artist be more perfect for the part if he tried? He really reminds me of Schuldich now. In fact, I think he probably was Schuldich in a past life. No. Scratch that. I think he'll go on to be Schuldich in a later incarnation given the timelines and everything. He's pretty and he's a violent lunatic bastard and he wears a skirt and has fantabulous hair, no wonder I love Envy, MUSTSLASHHIMWITHGREEDLIKENOW. ♥

I cannot articulate how much I adore Ed. Just: ♥ ♥ ♥. Etcetera. Oh my. Yeesh, I like a main character. Tis a miracle.

... did they really have to put his mommy in the series 2 ED?

Hughes and his photos are like... love. How can you not adore a man whose first answer to any crisis is to show people photos of his daughter, because how could anything be so bad as not to be made better by Elysia's sheer cuteness? Waah. Maes Hughes, I love you. I'm treasuring Hughes while I've got him. I've got to. Waaah. I can already tell that's going to just RIP MY HEART OUT AND TEAR IT IN TWO.

OhmyGOD that bit in the abandoned laboratory. It just got worse and worse and worse and then they brought the Sewing Life Alchemist back and things went right to Hell. I forget his name - think it was Tucker. The chimera guy, the first FMA chara to really freak me the Hell out and absolutely the last person I wanted to see return (the return of the wonderfully-named serial killer Barry The Chopper not quite so freaky, even if I did want Al to knock his head off). And he was even more creepy when he came back. The freakiness is killing me. Just when I think things can't possibly get any more disturbing - Gluttony springs to mind - they suddenly do. I have never been creeped out by an anime to the extent FullMetal Alchemist manages. Ever. In fact, the last thing that creeped me out this much was The Stone Tape.

I don't understand why I like the Homunculi so much when they all scare me. They scare me a lot. They're bastards, but they're just so good at it! I don't want to know who the girl who looks like Ed's mommy is until I find out naturally (I'm refusing spoilers for this show as far as I can, which isn't at all easy given its ubiqity so I'm not surprised I already know what happens to Hughes) but she can't be right, can she? And I don't trust that Fuhrer guy as far as I can throw him, and not quite as far as that - I support Roy Mustang's campaign, personally. They need a new Fuhrer. The current one's crap.

Do I dare start trying to write FMA slashfic?

I might have to just because of Roy. He needs to be slashed because he's cool, and he's even more wonderful when he's angsty. Younger!Roy during the Ishbalian War or whatever they call it was just so... I can't describe it but if Ed needs hugs, so does Roy in a war zone. He looks so sad all the time in those flashbacks, even when he's not looking totally mind-fucked and suicidal. He doesn't want to be there. I'm guessing what lies beneath Roy Mustang's Exterior of Amazingly Sexy Coolness is an angst-ridden mental ruin in need of serious hugs. Whee! What is it about me and really fucked-up and angst-ridden (to the verges of insanity, or beyond it) anime guys? Rociel, Youji and Ken (Kenken, you are such an adorable mess), Roy and Ed... yeesh, it's becoming a tradition. I worry myself sometimes. Hey, who's fucked up in GetBackers? I want to prepare myself in advance for the LOVE striking at an inopportune moment.

... the more I see of Winry, the more I dislike her. Sorry, Winry, but you did ask for it. You're just so annoying. I don't care how good the song for ED 3 is, I'm not watching it when it's just Winry (bah, why not Hawkeye?). And you've started annoyingly screwing up at inopportune moments, too. Ed told you to keep your hands off his watch. If you're going to go prying around and find something you'd rather not see, it's your fault. Stupid Winry. If there's nothing to be mended (and keep your mind on the job, girl!) just leave Ed and Al alone, okay? Seriously, does Winry actually contribute anything to the show aside from fixing automail and getting underfoot?

... and my brother described her as 'Ed's girlfriend'. Like Ed's actually got time for something like that...

(Was that soldier who killed her parents one Roy Mustang, or was it just someone who looked like him? Was it Roy? Was it, was it, was it?)

um. Yeah. I should have been writing, but I got distracted. I'll get back to it soon, I promise... oh, and yeah, um, happy new year and like, stuff. Watch FMA. Be happy. Oh, the joy through angst!
