I'll Slash Anything (kinda).

Everybody's doing it, I'll do it too.

Basically, once upon a day off some time back, I once again had writer's block. Instead of staring at my monitor doing MSTs, I had a ~~certifiably stupid notion for which I should have been shot on general principle~~ brilliant idea. This idea was that, as everyone else seemed to make icons for their OTPs, I'd do it too, because my OTP was easily as good as all the ones I'd seen knocking about the place and din't seem to have any icon-love at all.

Never mind that I didn't know quite what OTP stood for. I did know, however, that it was Youji and Ken and that, what the hell, I wanted to make icons anyway, they looked damned cute together and it wasn't like I had anything better to do, so why on Earth not?

Okay, I edited the images. The first one is really edited. Youji and Ken are together in the original images I took them from, but in both cases one half of the pairing came out looking a little crazy, so I just went for the decent pictures and brought them together. And I edited out a load of speech bubbles and drew half Ken's shirt. In the second two the guys were already next to one another - I just brought them a little bit closer. Well, I had to, she said, clinging to holier-than-thou jusifications in a desperate attempt to camoflage her true dark slash fanatic's intentions. I only have a 100 x 100 canvas to play with, I can't be doing with empty space...

It's totally incidental that I happen to think Youji and Ken look damned cute together. And anyway Kyoko Tsuchiya agrees with me going by a lot of her artwork, she has them stand rather too close to one another a lot and OMGTHERELUVISSEWCANON!!!1!111!1!one!!

Why do I have so many similar images, only with different text underneath? Because I like it like that. Because I thought of far too many captions and didn't have enough patience to sit there making OTP icon images all afternoon. But mainly it was because I wanted to.

If anyone out there is crazy enough to want to take any of these icons (or, in fact, any of my icons, all of which were made by my own fair hands which is why they're none of them all that great) and use them, feel free. I won't be beating a path to

lj_abuse with pitchforks and firebrands as a result, complaining that someone has 'stolen' my 'art'. I mean, god damn, they're only icons. They're little 100 x 100 glyphs which took me little enough effort to make, and they're not even animated.

Besides, I'd be kinda pleased if this wasn't just my OTP, yaknow?

Psst don't shove the fan back in...just make a comprimise..sometimes you can't beat back the inner fan...you just have to join them.

Yup. I've just been holding off on posting them for the simple reason that making transparent gifs is a pain in the proverbial. Ever tried that? Half the time the damned transparent-gif-alizer or whatever you want to call it doesn't work properly and you end up with a scrambled nightmare icon that looks like someone blew it to bits with an icon shotgun. I'd be more worried about my fangirl nature if it didn't give me such a lot of innocent pleasure... but it does, so I'm quite happy for it to stay exactly where it is for the time.

I have no real problems sharing my icons. I don't think any of them are so great that I'd go to the wall for them. Really, I think some people get rather too possessive about images. Ever heard of a campaign entitled Free The Images? I agree with that kind of thing. Plus, I'm trying to encourage

kay_cricketed to use them if she wants, so being strong-arm about how, where, when, and why the things can be used. So I've decided anyone can if they want to. It's just an icon, after all.

I've had that happen a couple times...the thing i hated most, was trying to figure out how to make them in the first place on Photoshop...then after that figuring out how to make it compatible w/ Buddy icons on AOL...that really tried my patience.

For me, i'm one of those fence straddlers...i'm not very vocal about lots of issues...for me i can be both ways about this issue. For me, if it were super-duper-special-personalized-for-me...i'd feel a bit uncomfortable letting someone else take it. But really you are right, it is a piece of art...and isn't the best way of honoring it is showing it or sharing it with others?

I agree with you... Yohji and Ken make a damed hot couple. In fact I read a dump an ice in your underpants fic the other day that had Ken and Yohji together with a side of Aya. The shower scene alone was worth the whole darned fic. I would love to snag a couple of the icons dear cause they are yummy. Thanks

No problem - take as many as you like. I'm only using a couple of them at the moment so I've got absolutely no problem with you using a few of them. Glad to hear you like them, by the way. I was thinking of posting them to

yoken, but the comm's so dead that it seems a bit of a weird thing to do. Maybe I should try and revitalize it with the sheer force of my fangirlishness?

I've thought Youji and Ken looked, acted and were hot together for a long time - it's just a shame so few other Western fans see this. I'm a weirdo in a room full of Ran x Ken fans. Which just means I have to shout louder to be heard, so all hail noisy fangirls of unconventional pairings.... Oh, and you wouldn't happen to remember whereabouts I could find this dump ice down your underpants fic, do you? I'm feeling the sudden need for Weiss porn. ^^

Actually, for a change, I do know! Wow, makes me feel organized. I snagged the timetable off Firstclass before the site went down (perhaps because I went on placement two weeks ago and started thinking college-like thoughts long before anyone who didn't have to go back and pretend to be diligent on a colorectal ward did). Kind of a relief to see I have it, actually, because I thought I'd just looked at it and decided that I'd saved it later. Anyway, here's Monday's timetable (and apologies in advance if it comes out scrambled)...

10:00 - 13:00 Formative 3-hour MCQ KG-lec A
14:00 - 16:00 Orthopedic Emergencies KG-lec A

Two things. If you think I give a shit about revising for a 3-hour formative MCQ you're whistling Dixie, London South Bank, I've only got four days off after my make-up time finishes and I intend to cherish them from the very depths of my heart and soul which means I will not be spending them buried in Marieb, thank you. Second, I think the room code means the ground floor of the Kewyworth Center, lecture theater A.

and by the way, i'm whistling dixie too. not because i'm refusing to flick through Marieb [even though i will briefly, at some point] but due to the Dukes of Hazzard film and the whole hurricane business my state needs a lot of love right now.

Glad to hear you like them. Well, that you think they're funny, same diff, huh? I like the idea of having an OTP, but at the same time don't see quite how I can take the whole endeavor entirely seriously when it's obviously never going to be a completely justifiable thing to do with a series. Canonically Youji is straight as a line (though, in all honesty, I am beginning to have my doubts about Kenken here). Feel free to use any of them if you want to, I'd be inordinately flattered if you did...

The first one was the first one I came up with. That was why I started making the icons in the first place and originally I only intended to make that one and leave it at that, what can I say, I got carried away. I like the one about Youji and Ken fighting like they were married, myself. And the Asuka one.

... but yeah, if you want to use one please, feel free!

I really, really, really love the "Ken was 'just good friends' with Kase too" one. So much so, I might smuggle it away to my own livejournal and use it. Yes. And hey, animation is overrated.

I got your email! I was excited. Yes, it was long. It took me two sittings to read, actually. I had to pull out my Weiss Side B afterwards and look at the profiles- yes, Ken's does say that his hobby is cooking. It also says that one thing he's always got nearby is a cooking book called 'Easy Japanese Eating.' I was highly amused. We were right!

I am working my way through the Dramatic Precious translations, I should be done reading soon. I'm sorry, I forgot. They got pushed to the back of my mind when I was really busy and I completely forgot! But I'm on it now!

Oh, trust me, it's not just your OTP. This OTP is the OTP to end all OTPs. kthxbai.

Then take it and use it - I'd be gratified to know that my iconage was doing the rounds, even if only in a small way. Besides which there's no way I could use all these right now, it would just look stupid. Someone might as well be using them (and yes, that one made me snicker too. I'd captioned that one differently at first, then I remembered I'd wanted to mention Kase...). And I do like that picture even if I did haver to move Ken a little closer to Youji so they both fitted in the damned box thingy. Oh well... like they'd mind. Heh.

Yay! I'm so glad to hear that wasn't chewed up and spat out in cyberspace given how long it took me to pull that thing together. I swear I'll get less verbose some day, but rambling about Ken is just so fun. I would have been better with it, too, but holidays ate my brain. I seriously couldn't get a damned thing done during that time. I think I just fell into a nothing pit and stayed there. I barely got any of the things I wanted to do done... pathetic really. Good to hear I wasn't going mad about Ken and the cooking. Glad it's canon, too.

I love DP. It's on crack, it makes my brain hurt and I cannot read them too often or risk complicating my life for weeks on end, but I love it. And I challenge you to read the end of that series and not get some serious YoKen implications out of it. Damned radio dramas, letting me and my twisted brain fill in the image blanks. They really should have known better than an ending like that, what with the yaoi-and-angst-fanatics fanbase...

And yay! for that. I'm propagandizing for YoKen. There needs to be more of it out there. The more publicity and loud fangirls the better. Must write more fics. I know, it's a lost cause, there's just too many Ran x Ken fanatics out there, but I'm going to go down shouting. Loudly. Which reminds me, I've a rantish essay forming in the back of my brain for why Youji x Ken is love and makes way more sense than most if not all of the other Weiss pairings out there... but I think I need to write fic first.

Slashing commercials? I don't know... but hey, if it's fun, why not? It's not like slashy fantasies hurt anybody...

Nope, maybe not surprised. Impressed, most definitely. Surprised, well, maybe not exactly. Even so, slashing a poker tournament is devotion to slashiness well beyond the usual call of fangirl duty. All hail slashers!

I'm getting kinda annoyed with the 'OMGWTF NOT CANON DIE BITCH' attitude some (self-proclaimed) serious ficcers take to us slashers, by the way. Look, my oh-so-serious fic-writing buddy, if we stuck to the canon gay there'd be about ten charas outside of BL stuff we could get away with slashing, and a lot of them wouldn't be much fun. And I'll go to my grave proclaiming Ken's sexuality to be Obviously Dead Debatable anyway. Yes, we KNOW it's not canon. We KNOW the girls exist and that they like them. But we don't actually care, because you can't beat the great taste of SLASH.

So yeah, just keep on slashing them commercials and poker tournaments. It's fun, it's harmless and hey, at least she's not writing fanfic about said slashed poker tournament commentators, so things could be a good deal more worrying...

Those two may not be my OTP of choice, but they're my favorite between the four weiss boys for sure. -waves her honorary YoKen banner-

I think writing slash fanfics about commercials would have to be declared a presumptive disability. Talking about them, 's all fine. But you know that someone, somewhere out there, is probably trying to write about them. And that's just freaky, and it means they need help. Big, expensive help.

And yeah. There was a rant in my annoyance for whiny slash-haters. That's why I didn't reply to this comment immediately, because I was annoyed and it turned into a post. I didn't want to do a post in a comment box, though, because again that would have been weird. But yeah. Nobody makes these idiots read slash fic. If they don't want to read slash fic then - gasp- - perhaps they shouldn't read it? OMG. What a radical suggestion that would be.

That's what I think about Youji and Ken. At least they appear to like one another. They're actually friends, whereas Ken and Aya are usually pretending the other doesn't exist or at one another's throats. They're too different and it scares me. And Aya's too busy fretting about the Little Sister of Severe Annoyingness to notice Ken even if he was eating his heart out for him. So yeah, why not Youji? They argue so much it's easy to take it as meaning something. I have never heard a conversation about girlfriends made to sound so flirty, guys...

And I wouldn't be surprised, really. Perhaps it's some kind of survival instinct, or maybe she brainwashed you? Or anything for a quiet life? But yeah, YoKen love. It's cool anyway, so why not?

You never know, it could be that I'm just weird (consensus opinion in the Weiss fan community would say a firm yes, you are weird, laila so I know what my money's on). I like this pairing, though. Always have done, actually... I was into it long before I liked Ken. I used to read a hell of a lot of Youji x Aya angst, but I always had a soft spot for Youji x Ken. I can rationalize it now, pretty much, though mainly to other fangirls but damned if I could do anything of the sort then. I didn't even like Ken. Well... more accurately I barely noticed him. ^^

I do have a soft spot for Ken x Omi, though (I'll read anyone-vaguely-logical and Ken, pretty much... about the only Ken-slash pairing I can't handle at all is Crawford x Ken; I can't see either party thinking the other was worth the bother). It's the other Weiss pairing I could see myself sitting down to try and write, though I haven't gotten round to it yet. I did a vaguely debatable fic which could be construed as headed in the Ken x Omi direction if you squinted and read between the lines and didn't think too hard, and I've done it in parody. On the other hand, that's a pretty popular pairing so I don't see that it needs me to help it out. Youji x Ken, though, it's not popular at all as one glance at ff.net's archives will prove...

(Gotta admit I love the way that most Ken x Omi fics still have Omi making the first move and that when Omi's anything other than totally naive it leaves Ken completely thrown. Aw, Kenken. You're just so clueless, and I love you for it.)

Youji x Aya angst is fun especially if and it usually does end up this way, Youji ends up being seme over Aya. Let's just face it, Youji is the over-all seme among the Weiss assassins. Youji x Ken is pretty much plausible, if you count all the squabbling between them being the cute part, which I admit, I do. That should be interesting to watch though, Ken trying so very hard not to make it too obvious and Youji being a freakin' tease about everything.

(I can't stand it when they pair Ken up with the Schwarz. That's just SO not possible, really!) I love Ken x Omi. I've always thought it was such a sweet idea. But this pair will end up more of fluff more than anything, truthfully. And I am a big fluff fan. (Not that I mind lemons and limes, cause I love them). Yes, that's true. I've seen about just ONE Youji x Ken fanfics among the archives that I can recall. Amos 2:15 or something... can't be sure. But it had quoted something from the bible, and that was years ago, so I think it's gone.

I love it when that happens, too. :D Both of them seem so clueless that sometimes it seems really, really cute. Everything turns out okay in the end anyway. :D

I'm also a big Youji x Aya hardcore fan. XD

In all honesty, I still like a good Youji x Aya angst fic (and if the ficcer can get a bit of Ken x Omi going on in the background, well, where can you sign me up?). They angst so amazingly that it seems a shame to deny them that opportunity. Though it occurs to me that all the Youji x Aya angst I've really flipped for has been multi-chaptered and on the long side. Ons-shots don't do it for me, not with that pairing. Give me long-distance angsting, god dammit! And yes, Youji really is the overall seme of Weiss. Height, looks, attitude... well, damn. In fact he's only really uke to Crawford (and tied with Schuldich) and that pairing makes absolutely no sense anyway.

And yup, that's one of the many many many reasons I flipped for Youji x Ken. If those guys didn't have the regrettable tendency to bicker like they were married and do so regularly at that I probably wouldn't still be this silly about them. For all the arguing, though, I think it's pretty obvious they like each other. Whether they do any more than that, well, there's where your fangirl speculation comes in and oh how I love the speculation.

Ken x Omi is a sweet pairing. I love it because it's so obvious that when it comes to relationships they're both just plain clueless - it's gotta mean something that Omi has to be practically bullied into dating Ouka and the only thing I really took away from the whole Ken-Yuriko thing was how painfully confused Ken was by it all - so watching them try and work something out together is pricelessly adorable. I read one Ken x Omi scene where Ken kissed Omi, immediately freaked, apologized profusely and ran off, and that gave me warm fuzzies for days. Just. So. Right.

... yet I write Youji x Ken constantly. There needs to be more of it. Never seen the fic you mentioned, though, and I've spent a long time combing the ff.net archives for YoKen fics (I run a ff.net based archive of Youji x Ken fiction: sad but true). Maybe it was lost in the Great fanfiction.net ~~Purge~~ Clean-Up. If it was rated NC-17, it'll have been pulled. They pulled all the fics with that rating no questions asked. I had to reupload one myself. Which I did by, um, lowering the classification.

And just THINKING about Youji x Aya hardcore leaves me breathless. You're a brave, brave woman.

These are fics by aoe and shoori. Start with "Seeing the light" - it's got YoKen forklift sex and flower shop table sex and then Schu trapping Yohji in an elevator so he can make fun of him. The companion fic is just as hysterical. And though the Harmonics arc is officially Ran/Ken and Yohji/Shu there are some wonderful YoKen moments which lead to Ken's "Been there-done that- stained the t-shirt" comment to Yohji about - well I don't want to spoil it so I'll leave it for you to read.

Enigma writes glorius YoKen smut. "A Perfect fit" is dressing room sex, and "Captive Audience" has poor Omi accidentally getting an eye/earful. "Cold November Rain" is a beautiful angst fest with Ken clinging to life after being shot and Yohji and Aya coming to grips with how much their threesome depends on him (with a side helping of Nagi/Omi for added sweetness).
When you are done here slide over to MediaMiner and search for E-Sama the Llama. Its the same author under a different name. "Interruptus" is the specific fic. To quote "When Manx's untimely arrival interrupts an afternoon of sensual fun what devious device does Yohji use on Ken?" All of his fics are absolutely yummy (yep its a him).

I hope at least something here is new to you and satisfies the YoKen craving. I scout far and wide to support my habit. If you like these I might even be able to come up with a few more next time you need a fix. In the meantime I'll be eagerly awaiting your next update - whether it be Seuche or the evil fic that is currently twisting your brain.

Thanks for the recs. Damn good ficcage. I have no idea how I managed to overlook them all this time, but at least I've made good on that now. Oddly enough, I'd never read any of them. Largely because I get most of my Weiss fics through ff.net simply through force of habit - which means looking like a total loony in a roomful of RanKen fans and rabid Mary Sue ficcers. In mitigation, I am old enough to remember getting decent Weiss smut through ff.net. Yup, I've been in this fandom for that long.

Anyway. Recs. Yeah. I've read a goodly proportion of them already. Well, all right, I skim-red 'Cold November Rain'. It's 62 parts long, forgive me, I wanted yo see how it ended, will read it again properly now I know that it ends okay all things considered, but it's complicating my life. Thank God for the lemony fluff is all I can say, after that fic I think I damn well needed it (trust me to go straight in for the Massive Angst fic, but knowing my tastes as intimately as I do, I wasn't even surprised that I did). And 'Interruptus' just about made my brain explode. Oh, Youji. Behave.

Anyway, thanks again. I'm so glad someone knows where to go for decent smut fics, because damn me I don't. Normally I get by just fine with fluff, cuteness and massive doses of angst (yes, in case my fics didn't give it away I'm primarily an angst addict) but every so often I need something a little less decorous, you know? Coca-cola won't do if what you really want is red wine - but it's just fine if all you're after is a coke.

And I promise I'll get off my ass and write something soon. I've got ideas, I just can't make them come out. Maybe banging my head on the keyboard a few times would help dislodge them?
