The Ken In A Hole fic is 17,813 words long and shows no sign of stopping long after Ken has resurfaced. Maybe if I threaten to put him back down said hole he'll behave and let me finish it?
Anyway. I have been neglecting LJ for a while, and to that end I am going to do what I normally do when I realize that I've neglected LJ - backpost a load of stupid Gaia avatar shit. Only in this case it's not all that bad as the avatars in question aren't just an archive of what I've been doing or piles of virtual multicolored crap but, dare I say it, are actually rather visually appealing. Well, for Gaia avatars, anyway.
(Speaking of which. my own avatar art finally came through. I'm really kind of pleased with it but will spare you the inevitable linkspam until I post my next backdated HEY LOOK I HAVE A VIRTUAL PAPER DOLL picspam.)
Anyway. In an attempt to prove as much to myself as to anyone else that not every Gaia avatar is either an uninspired and deeply tedious collection of items the user happens to like and is going to wear and damn what they look like together, a hideous multicolored pile of crap or both, here are a selection of avatars I've come across on my more recent travels which I actually thought were quite appealing - or, if not exactly my cup of tea, at least proof of putting more thought into the process than 'now, let's see how many items I can pile on today!'. There really is no accounting for taste, of course, so you may find some of these even more fug (in a coordinated way) than the multicolored junk lady trash-heaps from before. Even so, for the sake of balance, here they are.
Of course, when it comes down to it, they're all still Gaia avatars - i.e. virtually expensive little pixel-dolls their owners spend far too much time fiddling with (to which charge, my lord, I too must plead guilty). Still, at least it's possible with these ones to tell that there's an actual person-shaped thing under there... even if it is currently pretending to be a tree which its panda backpack can sit beneath.
