Landscape With Figures
Youji stands out in a crowd, Ken could lose himself forever. When the only things two people have in common are things they wouldn't want to share with anyone, the act of friendship seems defiant. Character study. Oneshot, no warnings.
... does what it says on the tin.
I rescued this not-even-remotely-written-recently vignette from the obscurity of my hard drive after rediscovering it while backing my fics up the other night. God knows how long ago I finished it, but it was written on a college PC, if that tells you anything. And it was for a fic challenge community I was co-modding with someone who I stopped talking to well over a year back. I wrote it out an oh-god-I-should-be-writing sense of obligation and wasn't that sure about it at the time, though, which probably explains why I never did anything with it aside from save it to disc and promptly forget all about it.
Anyway, it's posted now, because I reread it the other day and think it holds up okay, for a character study which isn't really about anything. (Except, of course, for Youji and Ken, and what more could you want from one of my fanfics anyway?) I should probably write more ficlets like this one.
This mood theme icon of mine makes me want to write Gluhen fic. It's Ken's fault for being so pretty and monumentally cracked.
