Have seen FullMetal Alchemist DVD one.
First impressions? Just a kind of Ohmygod thing. Guh. Ed.
So that's why everyone raves about FMA.
OHMYGODHOMYGODOHMYGODTIMESFIFTYTOINFINITY. LOVE IT. ♥ ♥ ♥
Yup, I finally sat down and watched the first FMA DVD over dinner telling myself I'd watch the first ep or so whilst I ate, just check the thing out and see how I felt about it. God knows how long later (I didn't look at the clock or get up once, except when the OP was playing, which is very strange for me because I'm a total fidget, that's a Sign right there) I was practically SITTING ON MY HANDS to stop myself from immediately shoving in the second DVD the minute the first was over because we only have thr first two DVDs out here at the moment and I want to see the next one tomorrow and defer the JOY it causes me.
Well... um, yeah, the cool is overwhelming, too busy fangirling to have too much coherent going on in the way of first impressions. Funny thing, I used to think those character designs were weirdly simplistic but they work so well in context, it's kinda surprising.
But since I'm here, um, okay, I'll try and be a little bit coherent.
Right. Um. ED. ♥ Yeah. I love Ed. ♥ Bit of a first for me as I tend not to like main characters. I tend to be more interested in the supporting cast but no, Ed I like. No. like is NOT A STRONG ENOUGH WORD. Muchly. Pretty much from the word Go. No idea why either, I just think he's adorable. Well, that doesn't cover it. He's just... well, I don't know, there are no words for it. But he's such a boy. I like that in a character. It's the attitude as much as anything. It's a major reason why I like Ken, after all. My angst sense is tingling. I can just tell Ed is going to have HUGE AND CRAZY ISSUES before all this is over. Massive angst! I love it. ♥
And he has a sexy coat. And he kicks major ass.
Al? Wow. The doubletake effect of that voice and a suit of armor. Is it right or possible to think a suit of armor is FANTASTICALLY CUTE? But I do. Winry was a bit annoying but 1. I was expecting to find her annoying and 2. She was about six. So for now I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. But I don't think she'll ever be as cute as Al. Want to see Envy please. Envy looks hot.
Roy OMG NEED MORE ROY STAT. And I thought he looked good. Add the voice and I'm just sort of melting into a little pile of wibble.
Those first two episodes with the creepy priest... man, that was pretty deep for any anime, and I LOVE the fact that they've got these massive powers and yet it's all applied scientifically. Man, that makes the logic fangirl inside me explode with joy. And alchemy. Can't remember exactly what that law was called - the law of equal... what? But it's so logical. Love for that. I like massive powers when they have logic behind them rather than the usual quasi-mystic 'it works because it does, okay?!?' stuff most shows go with. I think I need to watch these eps again, I was so busy staring in jawdropped amazement that I need to see it again to actually get the details down.
Oh yeah... the plot. The plot I like. Lotsa hint-dropping about the direction things are taking. War! Politics! Religion! Huge alchemical powers applied in a WHOLLY SCIENTIFIC WAY! Sexy and yet decidedly creepy people named after vices! Well, sexy people and and Gluttony. Angst! Scary monsters! Ed in a coat!
Now all I need is for Roy to start blowing shit up.
FMA. Oh how much love. This much love. Incoherent love. OHMYGODIMSPAZZINGOUT fangirl love. I want to see the next DVD RIGHT NOW but I want to save it till tomorrow so i don't peak too soon or explode with the happy love. That much love.
