I was a busy girl yesterday. And a tired one. Did I say anything about being a tired one? Anyway, after sleeping for most of the afternoon, getting up and tooling round on my computer, eating bagels and sleeping a bit more, I finally managed to stir my stumps sometime around midnight and actually start to get on and do something. Damn Paint Shop Pro. Damn getting Ideas for title images. I wanted to be writing fic, god dammit - but at least with this out the way I will be free to get on with writing as much fic as I like.

In between the MSTs, the essay on aggravating Weiss fanfic conventions, making winamp skins (I need to get back into this), redesigning the layout for Pale Movies and all the rest of it, of course. Oh yeah, and then there's nursing college to think about, mustn't forget that. But hey, the intention's there!

The Weiss Kreuz Mary Sue Litmus Test

Yes, it's up and running and done and I'm sitting here looking horribly smug because I've finished the Litmus Test and it looks pretty good, as my websites generally tend to go! About time too, says my blackened Sue Hating soul. What about your laundry, says the Sensible Student Nurse part of my brain, only to get shouted down by the Voices of Fangirlism. Shut up, brain, I can think about all that later, if all else fails I can wear my I am Not a Physiotherapist Really Honest tunic tomorrow, and I have a pair of clean trousers so who cares. Now all I need is to get Chapter 20 of 'Seuche' done and I will be well on the way.

(And what about your essay-- oh shut it, brain. I'm procrastinating, damn it! hey, devida, when's that thing due anyway? I bet I'll do it all in a mad rush at the last minute, like bloody usual...)

I decided to run with a doujin image in the title bar rather than my own fanart because the fanart would have taken too long and probably been too big anyway, and I just wanted to get the freaking test online as soon as was humanly possible. It's been languishing, uncompleted, on my hard drive for far too long. I might do the picture anyway just for my own amusement, but this works fine for now. I'm fond of my logo (title? whatever...). There's something about the words Mary Sue that seemed to demand a curly, swirly font for them.

So yeah. I've finished the Litmus Test. No, it wasn't what I should have been doing, or even what I wanted to do, but all the same I did it and it's up and I feel proud and I'm about to get flamed by total idiots, aren't I?

And, because I'm being stupid and wasting time on nothing at all when I should be doing something productive, like getting my laundry on or eating or worrying about the fact I haven't started my essay yet and do nothing about it other than that... a celebratory meme or two, courtesy of vermachtnis.

But since I can't have any of them on the grounds that they're all fictional or dead or sequestered in the Vatican, I'll settle for saying that anyone who's reading this LJ right now and really feels like doing one or both of these crazy memes can do.

ok, it's on June 21st. that's next tuesday. that gives you 8 days to write something and get it in by 4pm. and for god's sake choose either monday or tuesday off, cos it's no good if you can't hand the thing in cos you're on placement, is it?

I can't be arsed to do the songs but i'll do the characters:

all of the above are completely off their rockers, except for the Saint, cos he's well 'ard. if you ever get a chance to find out how he came to be, i strongly suggest you do - cos it's bowel trembling scary.

Whoo, it's finished! Very exciting. It looks great, by the way, so you should be proud. I like the image you used. It fits the subject matter perfectly, in my opinion. Are you planning on reviewing monstrosities such as 'Angel's Love' and leaving a link?

Real people don't do it for me either. I'll pick my anime/video game boys over a real guy any day, thank you. But I would really like to see Marvin the Martian fill out those memes. He was one of my favorites back when I was younger.

I'm so glad it's done, you know. Took way too bloody long given how long ago I finished the actual Test part of the Litmus Test, but writing all the rest of it took a fair bit of time too. I liked the image too. I was going to go for a high serious anime image and do a colored titlebar, but then I saw that scan and got a serious case of the I Wonders. I think it fits the subject matter too, though god knows why. Maybe it's the 'oh, God' expression on Aya's face. I love Youji in that pic by the way. He's just so cool.

I will have to do those reviews at some point. And it was only fair you got a mention in the credits given you beta tested the damn thing! I've edited the questions since then, but it was mainly because I wanted to try and zap Canon Sues as well (so I added questions about drug addiction, self-mutilation and working as a prostitute, because the amount of times the guys have gone those routes are ridiculous). Oh, and I changed the thing about falling for Youji to falling for Omi. Aya and Omi seem to be the ones all the Sue girls want - either the dark, broody, mysterious, gothy iceberg or the cute, perky teen.

Youji (total player) and Ken (boy next door) largely get left to it. Guess their character types aren't as appealing to Sues - though even Farf isn't immune to them, so they're not totally safe.

I know what you mean about the anime boys. I was going to try and add a female or two to the list but I realized I hadn't mentioned Count D or Vincent... so much for that idea. I do like female charas as well, honest. And I always had a soft spot for Marvin the Martian too. Why I don't know, but I thought he was cool. Always had a sneaking sympathy for the martian invaders, myself. Largely because they tend to be rather cooler than us, and have neat spaceships and things, so they deserve to kick our asses when we can't even get to Mars.

All alien invaders have technology problems in the ends, so we shouldn't laugh at Marvin alone... I mean come on, the aliens in Independence Day had a computer network which was not only compatible with Windows 98, but susceptible to the same viruses too. Dumbest. Aliens. Ever.

Best goddamn reason to watch Independence Day I can think of: Jeff Goldblum. Fuck the rest, just give me Jeff Goldblum with glasses and his Serious Head on.

I'm glad you went with that image. Youji is indeed so cool in that picture, and I love both Aya's and Ken's expressions. Good call on that one.

Omi does seem to get a lot of Sues, doesn't he? It's quite sad. I feel bad for him. I mean, he doesn't do anything to deserve it or attract them. He's not all mysterious like Aya- he's just Omi. Omi's cute. Stay away, Sues.

Well, it's fine with me if they leave Youji and Ken alone. They belong to each other, after all. I still can't get over Farf Sues. I mean... ack.

Yeah, I was going to try to add some real people or book characters to my list, but then I realized I was full and still hadn't added many of my other favorite anime boys. Disappointing. I think I always liked Marvin's helmet. It's just... cool. I also like the fact that his head is just a big black dot. And the martian invaders do tend to be cooler than us, don't they? Well, I suppose if we were as cool as they were, we'd be invading them.

I love that image. I almost went for another one where Youji looks even cooler but it didn't fit quite as well. And Ken makes me smile.

I guess Omi attracts a lot of Sues because he's cute and a lot of Sue ficcers are around about fifteen or sixteen. Meaning that they're just the right age to find going for the poor kid 'appropriate' (because of course since they're about 16 it goes without saying that their OC must be about 16 too). Going for anyone older would probably invoke the 'OMG that's pedophilia' reaction again and make them feel all uncomfortable. I've come across a terrible OC fic right now - another 'Calico', no less - where the OC dresses up in male drag because yup, you guessed it, she's been raped but falling for Omi is going to cure ALL her freaking problems.

Logical decision, that. I was raped ergo I cross-dress. Okay. Reckon I should MST it and its sequel? It's long, but... oh, it deserves the skewering, it does!

Worse, it's one where Aya gets an OC too. Youji and Ken are Youji and Ken and so aren't considered worth the hassle by the author, perhaps because they're too stable and 'non-angstable' in the anime to be much use. Good. Leave them alone. They're obviously together anyway so no OCs, please. And no, I can't get over Farf Sues either. What ficcer in her right mind would suggest her OC was attracted to Farfarello? Pth, bet they even make him all non-psychotic just for her.

Maybe if they'd given us 10 soots and not 5 we'd have done better with getting actual people or book characters into that list. Five only gives me enough space for anime boys. And I had to leave Schuldich out, too, which sucks. And I liked that about Marvin too... the helmet and the black dot for a face. He was hilarious.Yup, it is the whole 'invasion' thing that makes alien invaders cool. Just once, I'd like to see a sci-fi movie where humans invade the aliens and kick ass. That would be fun.
