I know a lot of my pairings are considered totally cracked-out to most people. Take the - well, the whole Youji x Ken thing. Which pains me, because it's painfully obvious if you ask me and yet still down as a crack pairing in the eyes of most Weiss fangirls, perhaps because it doesn't involve Aya or Omi in any way, shape or form. I get the distinct feeling Youji and Ken are classed as 'the other ones' in the eyes of well over half the fandom and the thought of pairing them up just doesn't even cross people's minds, never mind that it's sensible, goddamn it!
I know what you mean about not seeing pairings in a show sometimes, though. I never used to ship for Angel Sanctuary; I was happy enough with the canon relationships in their delightful vagueness, and didn't see anything else worth spazzing out over. It just wasn't an issue.
Feh. Who cares about practicality when a uniform looks that good? It is weird the way pretty much everybody looks fantabulous in it (especially Roy, but I think I've subjected the world to enough fangirl ranting about Roy already). Whoever it was dreamt up that uniform deserves to be given some kind of Insane Genuis award. Buttcapes for everybody, I say!
... and there I thought I was destroying any cred I might ever have had with you. Yeesh. I know, I'm a paranoid idiot! Personal taste isn't anything to be embarrassed about though and hell, most people's cats know more about FMA than I do. Provided said person is an anime fan, of course. I'm trying not to kill myself with spoilers for this show, so at present I'm leaving the fandom be.
Plus, it scares me. *hides under the desk with FMA OST* Ssh, don't tell the fans I like it!
My issues with dubs - well, at first I just thought I didn't like them, but part of the problem is (and this is going to sound weird, but...) that I'm not an American. Consequently, the English dub tracks never sound natural to my ears, and I'm pretty sure that one of the reasons for it is that is that American accents aren't something I hear as a matter of course. If they did dubs using British voice actors, that would perhaps remove some of the 'strangeness factor' for me. American voices don't sound normal to me; they just sound... well... American. It's yet another drawback of being a Brit.
