My feet hurt.
But it's all in a good cause.

Spent the best part of the day out with my father. It's the first time I've spoken to either parent face to face since I was last home (not fun) and only a week since last Sunday's dramarama that saw me spend the best part of the evening crying at anyone who would listen, which in practice turned out to mean my landlady and the ever-amazing [livejournal.com profile] cards_slash.

Today went rather better, thankfully. I always feel a little happier about meeting my family on my patch, so to speak. I like seeing them in London a lot more than I like going back to theirs. I'm a little apprehensive about going home for Christmas but I'm hoping for the sake of the season that we'll at least manage to coexist peaceably without too much angsting and complaints about jobs and moneys. Yeah, I know, I'm a complete idiot. But I want to at least try and go home. It seems stupid and cowardly of me to pout up here when I have damn-all else to do and my parents clearly want me home, all because I had a stupid row with my mother while I was screamingly premenstrual.

It was a nice day all the same, though.

Can I be extremely British and mention the weather for a bit? We had horrible storms overnight, so I was worried that our afternoon was going to be a bit of a washout, but they'd all blown over (and down to my parents' part of the country) by the time my father arrived in London. Beautiful afternoon, especially given the time of year. Sunny and windy, but not too much of either, and a nice clear night too - not that this makes much odds in central London, but it's always nice to know. Good weather for a little wandering round, which is wehat we spent most of our time doing.

I now know what to get my father for Christmas. Unfortunately I didn't have my purse on me, so I'm going to have to go back. Which means I'll be doing my Christmas shopping on Tuesday after I've signed on again. Oh well: at least I have to go out anyway, and at least it'll be done. I normally leave Christmas shopping till the last possible minute, so it'll be a relief to have it done before the 10th for once.

Also, I got a free meal out of the situation, which is always a bonus.

(Found a strange little Indian restaraunt in a side street. Kind of like a noodle bar, but without the noodles. Eating out in London, we of course had to discuss the Litvieniko poisoning, or rather I ranted and my father listened: it's not often I get a chance to talk about assassins for real. It's probably no surprise my father didn't suggest we went to get sushi. ^^)

We ended up seeing two films with Louise Brooks in, and God only knows how I missed this woman, who has become, in my estimation, perhaps the sexiest actress ever, with the possible exception of Marlene Dietrich. Yes, I have a thing for actresses from the inter-war years. Pure class and sex in a woman-shaped box. Mm.

Plus, don't we all look ten times sublimer in black and white?
